I'm looking for a bait caster for Barra trouble is I don't know much about bait casters.
What reel do you recommend for beginners under $200?

Mate a brand like ABU would be fine for around $150 . They are good enough, or you can spend more if youve got it to buy something better. The ABU baitcasters will give you a few years or heavy barra fishing work with no problems.

Was on a fishing charter in Darwin in august they used Abu Garcia  bait casters as they said that they were very strong. We had no problems with them trolling but they do take a bit to get used to if you want to cast . Try practicing in river or pool with lure without any hooks.

 How about a second hand

How about a second hand Calcutta 200 - maybe post a WTB add on here? I have had one for years and has outlasted 2 ABU 6500's, or a Calcutta 400 ( I got mine on here loaded with braid for $250....)
