Weird holes in sand seen while snorkeling the swan?

I was snorkeling the lower reaches of the swan and stumbled upon a patch of 6-10 dolphin or shark shaped holes 1.5-2m long probably 30cm deep at the deepest point, unlike stingray holes which are round, was in about 1-1.5m of water and looked pretty fresh, any ideas what could have done it?

hehe
id say it was 6-10 dolphins or sharks about 1.5-2m long at a guess, haha
ok no more jokes, maybe it could be a tidal thing?
like water rushing out , scouring the sand out, those lower reaches of the swan can fairly rip along , before a low tide.

Thanks for the reply, you
Thanks for the reply, you might be right with that because the water there gets really quick current but the weird thing is the stingray holes near that patch remains untouched.
