Warning buzzer on yamaha 40 2-stroke

Have the warning buzzer going on my yammy 40. Could be either oil filter blocked, too low oil in the reservoir (It was down to a fifth) , over heating due to buggered impellar, thermostat.

The tell tale is strong and not hot, just as it should be so I'm thinking that maybe the impeller is good. Could it still be the thermostat? I will fill the oil up and clean the filter.

If anyone can shed some light onto this it would be much appreciated

Does it go off as soon as you start up or does it take some time?

If its over heating its going to take a few minutes for the motor to warm up but for others its more or less straight away.

Same issue

Had the same issue with 50 Yamaha on my boat. Impellar, thermostat etc were all good but the water gallerys through the head were all blocked up with crap. Had to remove the head and get it all cleaned, now its all sweet

Cheers

takes a few minutes too go off. What I am trying to establish is if the thermostat and or impeller is buggered would I get hot or coolish water water through the tell tale?
