Warning to all the boaters
Submitted by catchalittle on Tue, 2009-03-31 00:25
Went out in the boat this morning for a quick fish didnt catch anything mind you but spoke to a couple of blokes at East freo boat ramp and they mentioned that they got stopped while on the water by the water police and copped a $160 fine for no life jackets in the boat makes for an expensive fishing trip so check that you have your safety gear before you go out.
on a side not pretty silly buggers going out without lifejacks on the boat its not worth the risk if something went wrong

safety equipment check
safety equipment check should be done before every trip.
Especially when you have other people cleaning your boat from the last trip, as things never endup where they started.

Hi. On big boat everything
Hi.
On big boat everything fits in Mounts. You Can SEE them there.
On my little boat. I have a plastic bin. Kept on floor of garage.
It has all the gear for boat permanently in it.
Box in boat. ALL gear in boat.
Anchor\rope. Sounder.GPS. EPIRB. Flares
We wear Inflatable jackets. so don't need to worry about Them.
You don't know you got it on. After first time or so. Always where it should be.
$70 to $100 each. and $29 a yr for cylinder.
Cheap safety I reckon.
No Jacket. You not in my boat. Wear all time after dark. on Bars and when weather gets ordinary. Kids wear at ALL times they in boat.
If they were made law. Everybody would have a jacket on. Cost per person. Minimal. and everybody a lot safer.
Most boats have those cheap $25 specials onboard.
You ever worn one. First time would be the last. and. Do you know where they are?. Lots don't..

Where exactly...
...were they pulled up? Believe it or not, lifejackets are not required to be in the boat when you are in the Peel estuary system, is the same true for the Swan River?

It'd be stupid not to have
It'd be stupid not to have lifejackets on boat heading out to the sea I reckon. Nothing's worth more than your life.

Pool Floaties
I've seen this before Noha and it's just stupid. Like using a garbage bag as a parachute - doesn't work.

Agreed Guys
There's no excuse and no good reason why you shouln't have them.
I'm with you too Shorty mate, those 'yellow bricks' are hopeless (but still way better than nothing).
I still have them, but went out and bought much better ones that would be far easier to put on in a crisis.
