Wapet creek stonefish

Just a reminder to be careful when fishing at wapet creek. We saw at least five of these little buggers in one small area at low tide. They were right at the waters edge at the closest access point to the airport. We moved one up on to the bank for some pics but you can see how good their camouflage is. Last pic shows the spines exposed.

Would these puncture a sole of say.... Dunlop volley or Those wetsuit material boots with thick tread for rock hopping?

Shameless plug

I wouldn't trust a volley.  I also wouldn't trust most dive booties.  Good quality rock-hopping boots would probably be OK.  We use professional dive boots with soles just like a steelcap work boot.

It's not the same species as jighead's photo, but here's a shameless plug if anyone is interested... http://museum.wa.gov.au/kimberley/videos/day-6-spikey-stonefish-kimberley-2012
