VOTE TO STOP BEING LOCKED OUT OF FISHING

G'day guys,

I'm pretty pissed off by the libs and the greens plans to lock us out of our rights to go out and RESPONSIBLY catch a feed of fish for our family.

I dont claim to know much about politics and really dont give two shits about it, they are all a bunch of crooks and are just as bad as each other.

dont know exaxctly what labors stance is on turning all of our coastline into marine parks. but I'm lead to believe they too like the libs will want to lock out recreational fishers of every bit of water for no other reason than to satisfy the bleeding hearts of the greens.

I think the only way we can stop this shit happening and ensure we will be ALLOWED to take our kids fishing in the future is to get some people in government who will look out for our rights to fish responsibly. The way I see it is either liberal or labor will get in because its a two horse race but if we can get a few seats for people that support our views we might be able to block wholesale emotion based (non scientific) marine parks and fisher lock outs.

In my brief  research the only party I can find worthy to vote for is The Fishers and Shooters Party

Does anyone know any others?

Lib or ALP

Both these mobs are hell bent on looking 'green', albeit for different reasons.

In the perfect world SFP will get a few reps in the upper house and be able to moderate the wholesale lock em up attitudes that are currently prevailing.

BTW, interesting first post considering you've been a member for 5 + years, I reckon you probably need to start providing a bit more input than just posting random political messages (albeit one I agree with).

keen to support rec fishing

Tue, 2013-03-05 09:54

but can anyone share any state policies threatening rec fishing?

All I know of is federal national parks and that state should take over Two Rocks boat ramp and build another ramp somewhere between Mindarie and Two Rocks.

The SFP aren't promoting

Tue, 2013-03-05 12:30

The SFP aren't promoting responsible fishing, they're only promoting unfettered access.

Look at their recent bit of blatant electioneering about how everyone should get a dhu, be they the 3rd, 4th or nth deckie on board?

I might be interested in the SFP if they were promoting stewardship of the resource, not merely access to it and then there is the rest of the baggage they bring with them.

I partially agree and

I partially agree and disagree with you Til.

While a boat limit of 2 Dhus might be a good thing for Metro area with its massive pressure, why do we in the country have to suffer it also? I am not a big dhuie catcher by a long shot, in fact its rare more than regular for me.

But in the interest of "simplifying" as Fisheries say they are doing, why not make it the same as Coral Trout outside of metro?

Having said that, SFP very unfortunately showed on here a week or 2 ago how out of touch they are on the issues by spouting about a plan that was 12 months old as though it was released yesterday.

And as I have said before, it is really the job of Recfishwest and Fisheries to put together the cases for these sorts of things. Otherwise we are no better than PEW/PETA just using emotion and muscle instead of science/research to adjust limits and policies.

good pick up big john- I

Tue, 2013-03-05 19:29

good pick up big john- I knew someone would comment that this was my first post after years of reading other peoples posts daily.

I'm pretty embarased that my 1st post was political considering I have only ever done a donkey vote for the last 16 years of voting.

but I feel this is a pretty important issue. if the two major parties do lock us out what can we do to reverse the situation. I know for a fact I wont stop fishing and if that means I have to break the law to do it - so beit!

A few points

  • Are you talking state or federal?  Currently the FEDERAL LABOR govt is implementing a series of national Marine Parks around Australia in federal(More than 3nm offshore) waters. STATE LIBERAL is also announcing state based parks in the southwest and kimberley which run from high tide mark to 3nm where federal waters begin.

dont know exaxctly what labors stance is on turning all of our coastline into marine parks. but I'm lead to believe they too like the libs will want to lock out recreational fishers of every bit of water for no other reason than to satisfy the bleeding hearts of the greens.

  • Labors Federal marine parks will mean that Australia will have over 50% of the worlds marine parks inside our country. http://www.environment.gov.au/marinereserves/
  • Your point about it being a two horse race, Federal labor up until last week was in bed with the greens because in the last election they did not win enough seats to govern outright, so they created an unholy alliance with the greens and some independants to attain the balance of power.  The greens have used this to great advantage in pushing for the network of marine reserves, carbon tax, mining tax etc.  If you vote for a minority party and one of the major parties wins, but not outright majority we could well be over a barrel in the future with the same problems.  The greens and labor only last week dissolved their union because a federal election has been called and for other reasons http://www.nationaltimes.com.au/opinion/politics/after-the-breakup-parties-are-free-to-be-themselves-20130219-2epk9.html
  • Liberal WA Fishers plan: http://www.wa.liberal.org.au/sites/www.wa.liberal.org.au/files/plans/Our%20Plan%20for%20Fisheries.pdf
  • 2010 Federal Liberal Election fishers plans(will be probably updated in the lead up to the federal election in sept) http://www.liberal.org.au/sites/default/files/ccd/Fisheries%20Policy.pdf
  • Federal Labor Fishing Policy http://www.alp.org.au/federal-government/news/gillard-labor-government-will-support-australia-s-/ about 2/3rds of the way down the doco under 'Fisheries'
  • I cant find any state labor fishery docs and I have to go to work in a minute.
  • The current state Liberal head of Fisheries is Norman Moore who is retiring in October after the upper house dissolves I think? This has been known for ages, his wife is quite ill and he is leaving politics to spend time with her and her family and turned down a lucrative overseas posting.  This means if state liberals win there will be a cabinet announcement of Colin Barnetts ministers, of which there are a few elected members hovering around the fringe of actual portfolios who could get fisheries.  One of these people in particular is exceptionally well skilled and educated to take on the fisheries portfolio.  That is all for now.

Good result for the S&f party and Rick Mazza.

Best result is the message that was sent load and proud to the greens.

Green vote decimated

Sun, 2013-03-10 12:10

Huge result for the SFP, getting one candidate up with a chance of a second in their first crack at it.

Good to see the hand wringing, tofu eating, latte set get decimated. Bring on the Federal election.

 I think that green vote

Sun, 2013-03-10 12:43

I think that green vote decimation is a statement to the federal government BJ. Federal labour will be embarrassed at the election. I would love to see Malcolm Turnbull back as leader he's got the most balanced approach of them all. Get rid of the priest lol.

No way sea- kemp Turnbull to much of a lefty for mine.

Hard? More like deranged. At an international level, he would be more of an embarrassment than little johnnie ever was. At least everyone in aus already knows what a bigoted, misogynistic fool, not to mention sycophant to Gina and James he is.

I must say that I despise the libs because they do ``looking after their big mates'', all the while telling you everything is union/labor/greens fault, and when they're not doing that, its more and more social conservatism.

It's a pity that both labor and the green have been doing a piss poor job of doing anything else.

It really

Sun, 2013-03-10 21:05

doesn't matter who is in power, it's what sort of honest job they do. The bullying that is apparant at the minute by some that are in power pushing projects forward without proper consultation is what pisses me off.

As for little johnny, I didn't mind the prick till he took my semi auto 12 guage off me coz he listened to that f..k wit ray martin..................

As for labour, they are great for spending shite loads of money and giving all the gov employees pay rises as soon as they are elected, except the cops.

The sooner the better for the red headed road runner, might buy the coyote a kenworth..
