hey all.
just a few questions that i would like to know bout what to use for trolling metro waters.
1. what knot do u guys tie from main line to leader? im using 15kg mono main line and mayb 100-150 lb leader. i tryed the albright but it was to bulky to go throught the guides with ease. should i just use a swivel to the leader?
2. if you use wire what type do u use? ive heard of single strand but i havent seen it so is there another one thats good?
3.i saw some clips from halco that i think a few people use. does anyone use them? and are they good?
ummm
yer i think thats all for now if i think of more ill add it.
cheers danno

1) Use bimini twist to
1) Use bimini twist to Richter Wind On Leaders or similar via a catspaw.
2) I don't use wire
3) No, don't use Halco cliups, use the nice Richter ones, everyone uses them or similar for gamefishing.

For my trolling gear, I tie
For my trolling gear, I tie a bimini loop on the main 15kg line and use a 'wind-on' leader where it has a dacron loop. Its joined to the mainline with a triple or 4 wrap catspaw.
Then I either tie on or crimp on a heavy duty Richter ball bearing swivel clip. If it requires wire I normally just use coated multi strand wire and its usually crimped directly to my lure.

All the sponsors wil sell
All the sponsors will sell Richter gear.
The bimini isn't very hard, an alternative that may suit you better is the aussie plait.

F**k halco crazy deeps,
F**k halco crazy deeps, although the shallow ones are ok.
I think Rapala xrap20/30 are a lot more reliable runners for not much more money.

Teeth = wire
You may get lucky not using wire trace with lures targetting toothy critters but generally a wire trace of 300 - 400mm in length is the usual safe guard. As for tuna, the lighter trace you go the more fish you will catch.

I agree
I have 4 190 crazy deeps and they are very sensitive to troll speeds. Too fast and they pop out.
normal 190's work well
I have a couple of Rapala xrap 30's and they will toll well an any normal speed.

i just run main line to the wire if ya using mono and avoid clips, just one more possible thing to give way imo. ive never had any trouble like that. multi strand is fine but single strand is thinner and less likely to deter fussy fish. as for lures they all have their day, caught heaps on halcos and heaps on other brands. just run different lures in ya spread. chrome pink is a good colour.
