I may be wrong, but my own

I may be wrong, but my own experience suggests the bigger the boat, the better the trolling results. More commotion and things to attract fish to see whats going on.

I had very little luck with my 5m Trailcraft, but much more success with my 23.5 ft Whaler, and my mates 28.5 ft Whaler seems a bigger magnet again with some pretty amazing trolling days on that awesome beast. I have only trolled in the old mans 36ft Rivierra a few times and had success most times with some great metro mackerel using temporary poly pipe rod hod holders gaffer taped on the back of the gin palace. Big twin diesels seem to play fish music.......

Working back, this would suggest a jetski may not be as good?

On speed, 6 knots is a good starting place.

Tailor is choppers they attack anything on the surface or near it when their hungry. I've cought them on trolling bait by cutting the tail off and by putting either a white or pink squid skirt over them in Swann river in the arvo also early morning in Dawsville Cutt. If u can spend time around Warnbro reefs richter plugs work too or metal slices. Mind u I've got them on a piece of rag covered in blood seeing I ran outa bait one day and still managed to get them for fun.

Troll speed I have found to be 5 knots or so works from jetski and a boat I tend to pull cd's and/or witch doctors also, just to give any fish down their somethin to see so they can get to the bait. I have teeth marks on the cd's to show whether they were tailor dont know might be somethin else was trolling out at 5 mile that day so who knows.

Luv Jetski trolling it's fun!!

+ 1 Richter plugs on Tailor

Mon, 2013-12-30 20:49

+ 1 Richter plugs on Tailor 2oz is my pick for spinning. I've had more success casting round reef/white wash than Trolling too.
