Trolling skirts

Heading to the mackrel islands in may next year and looking for some advise on trolling skirts for billfish tuna etc.
should I use wire or not and what sort of speeds should I be looking at.
the more info the better as it is all new to me.
Cheers

LURES
mate wouldnt bother with wire for your marlin lures 200lb mono leader would be the go. speeds anywhere from 6 to 9 knots as long as your lures are all working properly. run them in front of your pressure waves put out by your boat for best presentation

I use wire in the skirt with a 150lb wind on main leader. There is a good chance of wahoo out there as well as macks in the shallower water.
Richter soft grassys and the williamson with the plastic gar up the arse of a pusher went well.
Teasers are also recommended.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Pretty sure champ angler
Pretty sure champ angler billfish for Gamex was using his own home made pushers.

Richter Soft Oscars and I
Richter Soft Oscars and I use a little wire inside the skirt, mainly because of the way I rig my lures. The leader is 250lb mono and the lure runs on this, then the wire hook rig is shackled on.
Trolling at 6-8kts is usually best but is condition dependant. You'll know when you get it right, things will just look good.

Another vote
for the Richter Soft Oscars and Soft Grassies. We ran a spread in Exmouth with a Witchdoctor, 2x 10in Soft oscars, 1x 8in Soft grassy and a 190 Laser pro run at 8-9knts. Have to say that the Soft Oscars got the most attention from the Sails we got in the spread. Had 2 or 3 Marlin hookups too.

Hey dodgy you way be right,
Hey dodgy you way be right, champion Angler Billfish was Jeremy Klar on board APOTHECARY with 14 billfish, he may make his own lures. Champion Boat Marlin was MAHI MAHI with 26, according to Mark Richter (Richter Lures) they were using Soft Oscars and Soft Grassy's
