Trigg beach

Hey guys, tried fishing trigg beach for the first time on friday night. Was fishing just in front of boat ramp,at low tide. Had a few good bites but got snagged and lost a few rigs. Is it better to fish here at a high tide will this reduce the snagging ??. Also is this the area known as the blue holes or is that the southern side of the rock outcrop near the boat ramp. Any advise would be appreciated

they launch jetskis there and the surf lifesaving dingys.

seems to be one passage out thru the reef they use.

Yeah its more an asphalt driveway down onto the beach than an actual boat ramp. Saw some guys launch a tinny from there

its the blue.holes 2 the left of the big rock and i find high tide worked best for me, try baitcasting mullies or use a metal slice, u wont get snagged as.much, trigg is full of reef so its not a spot for a bigginer , there is some seriously big fish caught there and its my fav tailor spot in perth with catching my.pb of 80 cm tailor there, a few tripod fisherman fish the edge of the reef a few mtrs out from the beach, they always seem to catch good fish, but.keep trying mate and u will end up with decent fish

 google earth or nearmaps

google earth or nearmaps will give you an indication of what the reef structure is like. mind you trigg pt gains sand in summer and loses it before winter generally. have a snorkel around there tomorrow, exclnt vis at the moment

they only thing you will

Mon, 2012-05-28 17:39

they only thing you will catch on the boat ramp side is pilch and herring sometimes

as said blue holes is on the lhs best  get a calm low tide day and go for a walk out there and then you can see what its like where to cast ect becarefule i have seen many a blue ring occy there and plenty of deep holes for you to fall in but it is good fun out there

yer heaps of pilch (aka yellow eyed mullet) and there big aswell, they put on a great fight if u manage to catch some, i usually aciddently jag a few when im casting metals out for tailor, u also get the odd mulloway there and a big buff bream is a nice suprise catch, some smaller species to try for would be bream, big tarwhine, herring, rock cod, plenty of cobbler around and there are also a few reef sharks and rays around ive caught pj sharks there and also a leopard shark once, Good Luck!!

be carefull if ya walk out...the concrete block with the plaque which is now long gone is in remembrance of 5 nuns who drowned there yrs back

do not go out on the reef on high tide.....i was at triggs in the late 80's when the last fisho died and they found him up mindarie way somewhere....strong undercurrent...triggs is dangerous

stick to the sand if yr not 100% sure

ive been fishing there since the 80's so have a fair idea

 I fished the reef platform

Tue, 2012-05-29 04:57

I fished the reef platform there at the end of last winter on low tide with some experienced guys and all I will say is never again. It was the most uncomfortable fishing session I've ever had. Stick to the sand and the fish will come, although like anywhere, trigg can be hit and miss.

If you walk out

There is a hole in the reef  that a car would get lost in----- Plus lots of potholes , So watchout/  The name Blueholes /
