Tailor Reef (Shore Base).

Gday people,
Me and a couple of mates are keen to slug out some Poppers and Slices out off the beach for some awesome Tailor but we've never experience Reef fishing before. Is there a way to go about it and the reef's alongside of Mindarie Beach is worth a go? So we're planning to head out there on Saturday so we can get some tucker for Mothers Day the next day.
Thanks guys.

I've heard out the front of the Capricorn club in Yanchep would be a good place to go, but havent been there myself. The Bluewater guys in Mindarie or Compleat angler should be able to help you with spots and gear as well as the guys here.
Around reefy areas I'd be using floating lures like poppers, otherwise with slices dont stop winding
Dont forget about the humble baitcast mulie either. Unweighted or lightly weighted perhaps.

Yanchep even
Hi,Club Cap can be a good spot for sure,if not head a little south to the Yanchep Lagoon, there is some good spots there if you dont mind a small adventure. You can either fish from the reef on the southern end or even catch a few caught in at low tide.
Good luck

I would give those reefs north of Mindarie a try
Looks like a good spot to me. I have heard of some good sized tailor being caught on the reefs to the north of Ocean Reef.
There are reports of tailor around the reefy areas nerar Cottesloe as well.
Make sure you cast your poppers, or slices, or unweighted mulies into the white water. The tailor tend to be under it.
All the best, Colin Hay

Didn't have any luck today.
Didn't have any luck today. Only one follow but no hook up, i'm a lil devo but keen to give the spots a crack again. They look so fishy. I've even tossed out a few Mulies and only got some Herring, well some big size ones.
Very wet too.
Thanks.
