There would be an ID number on the tag and a phone number to call and give the tagger information. They usually ask mainly for the size and location (roughly). Also the condition of the fish as well. They also ask if you kept the fish or released. You can keep tagged fish.
I'm not aware of any tagging programs thats going on for mulloway at the moment though. Possibly one of the fish released recently?
I caught one on Wednesday night while chasing bait that went 37cm, Took the info and fish released. Called recfish on Thursday and gave the info to them. She said that that was the biggest re caught fish she has heard of so far, It was also in top condition which she said was strange as the other ones had damaged fins and not in the best condition.
The important question is did you find a bigger model while fishing for them?
The Foundation is pleased to announce rewards for tagged mulloway recaptures which enable valuable data to be obtained to assist in the development of future mulloway stocking programs.
Each angler capturing a mulloway which carries a yellow shoulder tag will receive a reward prize and will also be eligible to win a major prize to be announced in the next few weeks. Recfishwest's contact humber is on each tag along with an identification number. Anglers are asked to report their capture of tagged mulloway on this number and provide a picture of the fish along with it's length, which will enable the Foundation to assess the health and growth of the fish.

It was off the beach south
It was off the beach south of perth.
I'm not sure if there was any programs for them in this region but I know of the one in the swan river.
Unless the mulloway had travelled that distance which maybe unlikely with the distance involved.

There is a phone number on the tag. You are allowed to keep tagged fish.
Its no problem although you have caught a fish that has been caught already.
The big one is 'caudal length'; from the inside of the tail fork to the head.
Take photos if you can preferably on a brag mat.
