Swan Flatty Sesh

instead of staying home and doing jack all, I got up at 730, and walked from Attadale to east freo to hit up the flatties. got there, 3rd cast had a nice flounder on the line, got it to shore and spat the hook! watched him swimming off and was happy just to have seen what it was. a little ways along the beach had a nice hit on the drop, felt the weight and no fight, so wound in, then when the flatty saw me he zoomed off, managed to land him, estimated around 30-35cm,(from the tip to the 4th guide on the rod is 40cm). Released to fight another day. A while later I had another nice hit on the drop, dead weight and thought it was a rock. got it in closer and it was a much better flatty, probably around 40cm if not bigger, broached like a whale haha. dragging him towards shore he spat the hook. Got another 4 hook ups, all dropped close to shore, mostly flatties and maybe a whiting or bream. Also had some tailor come through and demolish my placcies, awesome to watch them in the shallows. All caught on soft plastics, and 1 1/2 ounce jig heads.

1 and a half ounce?

That's like 40 grams...do you need that much weight for the river? Obviously it's working cause you're getting hits and catching fish, but depending on your line/rod/reel setup, I'd guess you'd have even more success by going lighter.

Well done, anyway...would've been a nice day for it!

That was my first thought! I also haven't seen a 1 1/2 oz head with less than a 5/0 hook.  I'm thinking it may have been a typo.

Same here! 1 1/2 once is a little on the heavy side for river shoreline fishing...

then again with the kind of wind we are experiencing these few days, you can't bloody cast anything unless it is 40g!

bahahaha, yea what a typo, I think its like 1/12 oz, that's lik3 3-4g. other than that it was probabllyy too light, the wind was howling, but hey, got the fish.
