Suzi Engine Issues at all ?
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2014-01-03 15:56
Crew,
The Inlaws are about to buy a boat with a Suzi 90 Hp 4 stroke Engine around 05/06 vintage with approx 350 hours on the Suzi meter.
Has anyone heard of issues with these OB`s once they get to this vintage?
I understand they`re probably only just run in at 350 hrs but thought I`d pose the question to the guys in the know on here,
If anyones had any issues they would be wary of let me know.
Help is appreciated,
Tim

Those motors are good for
Those motors are good for plenty of hours as long as they are maintained. About the only thing that really goes wrong is corrosion. You really need to make sure the internal anodes are changed while the servicing is happening.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Mine's an 06 and the same
Mine's an 06 and the same motor, but hasn't done that many hours I reckon only around 150-200 max. Never had any issues absolutely love it. But as long as servicing is kept up to scratch don't think you'd have any dramas.

Cheers fellas and good advice about the internal anodes dodgy. I`m going to check it out on behalf of the Inlaws so I`ll be sure to check service history to ensure they have been changed.

Ive got a pair of 05 df115's on mine, 550 odd hrs now without a fault.
Best to buy your anodes from the US as they are extortionate here.

suzuki/johnno anodes from the us
Have just read all the posts re anodes and done a quick check of the rectifier top and anodes are 50% gone.
Time for replacement and was wondering if you have a quick link to USA supplies? Looked at Suzuki site and they have three
different types (Ally,Zinc and freshwater variety) annodes for engine block. Any ideas on which is best for longevity of motor?
Any advice welcome.

Iboats or Browns Point
Iboats or Browns Point Suzuki is the go, prices online and a really good part database on Iboats from memory.

Good engine
Mate has 70 with 3000 plus hours
My 115 with 250
No problems
Ensure you have a good fuel filter and always keep the fuel clean
I expect thousands of hours out of mine
