sunday barges
Well as ya all know was a very slowww dayy yesterday. Me and my uncle firstly went to north barge and as we got there everyone started to leave and the charter boats kept movin around, soo was not a good sign to rock up to. No hits so we went to outter barge where we had a few drifts with nothing. Everyone left again and one more dropp bang i was on, lost to shark so close to top. Only lost my hook and then we moved on back to north barge. Found some big schools with no hits but we decided to keep trying. JohnF and his crew came around and then we found a decent school few drops with nothing. School dissapeared from the sounder justttt, with still a little bit showing. Bang my uncle was on, i quickly re drop bangg i was on and it was a BIGGG one, double hookup sweeet. Two minutes later uncles gets sharked only got his hook bitten off. Im still goin but not regaining any line since the hit. Then it just let goo got my jig hooks and everything :s. So we started sounding around again, found them i dropped bang i was on, got him up and released well. Second drift bang i was on got him up and released well. JohnF then left and was just us and another 2 boats which had just rocked up. 3rd drop bang i was on, got him up, was a bit smaller one and released well also. So it finished off well for me :) here is the pictures of the first two sambos all caught on jigs, no bait for me :)

not at all by the end of it i pretty much was just jiggin slowly thinkin no fish for me today, but it worked out for me. Big schools of what i presume were amberjack in the 60 metre range but could not get them to take a jig :s

Nice fish mate, i went out
Nice fish mate, i went out today with my brother and managed to hookup first shot but it was just too big. Kept the fight going but then ended up bricking me....ended up enticing an amber but a huge shark got to it. Braid or knot didn't want to snap. Ended up having to fight it and lost big time....snapped my shimano jig rod and lost alot of braid. Did see bluejuice out there too, they weren't getting much from what i saw

Thats sucks dudeee must be
Thats sucks dudeee must be devistated. The one fish i lost was bloody massivee i have brought up a 40 plus kilo sambo before (well a few metres from boat before she got chomped) but still know what it felt like and this one felt like twice the power. Some big mommas down there now johnF lost to a monster too or one of his deckies i think.

yeah i was really giving it
yeah i was really giving it to this sambo and it seemed to just respond by going harder, made my brother laugh seeing me hanging one arm on the rod and the other to the side of the boat with the shark....must be an easier way to get them to snap the line surely, ive always had them just bust me off but 80lb braid/100lb leader just didnt want to snap:(

haha just hold onn i guess until he bites ya leader or whips it with his tail? Im thinkin about takin some shark gear out next time. A decent size shark followed behind my first sambo as we could see colour so i just reeled as hard as i could and must of pissed off when seen the boat i guess? 2 & hald to 3 metrey i reckon

yeah there are def some big sharks out there, i dont think il go out and jig for a while now. Been out a few times for barely anything. There was a nice 7m tattoo boat out there today sending down big baits on some super heavy/expensive gear...sharks were just interested in live ambers though

Next time point the rod at
Next time point the rod at the line and start the motor. If you're worried about damaging the reel, just tie off on the boat and pull away.

You could use heavy mono
You could use heavy mono instead of a assist cord that way you save the jig if something big does take it.
