Stradic or Saltist?
Submitted by Jelle on Fri, 2012-01-27 13:52
Hey guys,
can't make up my mind on what reel to buy. It 'll be used for spinning for pelagics around the 10kg mark, but I'd also like to be able to use it for some medium bottom fishing.
I'm looking at spending about 250dollars, so the Saltist 6500 or Stradic FJ 6000 would fit the picture. (Or should I get a 6000FI and spent the rest of the money on some lures?)
Your toughts? Any alternatives?

I have 2 8000 Stradics. Great reels and no issues (touch wood)

A 6500 size saltist is a big
A 6500 size saltist is a big reel for 10kg mate, if u go daiwa then a reel around 3500 or 4000 would be a better size for what you want to do. Otherwise the 6000 size stradic is perfect for that!

stradic, saltists are big
stradic, saltists are big tanks it feels like u could bash someone to death with one they're that heavy. new stradic 6000/8000 is on my short list for new reels.
Here we go again.

Mate i think the 8000 stradic
Mate i think the 8000 stradic is a bit lighter than the 6000 and has more line capacity, so i'd go 8000 not 6000, correct me if i wrong, but thats the reason why i got the 8000.
Good luck with your choice.

def stradic, the saltists
def stradic,
the saltists are all high speed as far as I know. They are big and cumbersom, I had a 4500 and moves it on quickly. Stradic seem the great alrounder, cheap enough, tough as nails but still smooth and nice to use

Seems pretty clear guys,
Seems pretty clear guys, thanks a lot.
Bought me a stradic 5000 FJ the other day, first fish on was a GT around the 10kg mark, right near the boat. Fish took off, nearly spooled me and then threw the hook! Not a good start!
Guess the 6000 will follow shortly..

Done! 8000 FJ on the way from the USA
Pretty much the same thing as a 6000 like tonyT mentioned, just larger spool capacity and a halve an ounce or so lighter..
