Stolen GPS..now need to buy replacement?

My parents house in perth was broken into and our electronics bag for the boat was taken.

to them it will be a useless navman screen but to me its 7 or so years of hard work....

luckily i have some of my prized marks stored away but there are literally thousands on there...

obviously now im going to have to buy a new plotter.

i already have a 585 sounder so dont need one that sounds just a gps only...

im thinking raymarine e7, e9 or a HDS8....

is there any good recommendations on either of these 3 units...

thanks.

Not much wrong with the lowrance units as a GPS although I do prefer the Raymarines - but buy anything that uses navionics charts. I find cmap a bit basic, and garmin a bit bullshit.

I know ive put it up here before, but every few months you should bring up your waypoints page and photograph it with your phone.

At least you have a record in case of theft/ failure

I think that could be a cool feature with the Raymarine, they do iphone and maybe android sync, so you can take the points off on your phone.

Still, nothing is better than a hard copy.

Hi mate I have the new Lowrance HDS9 gen 2 and is an awesome GPS touchscreen and very easy to use. Have hardly touched the instructions. I've paired it with a platinum card and the chart is very good. Try Keogh's marine or Chivers here for good pricing.

Navionics charts

Hi mate i agree that if you get a quality brand compatible with Navionics you cant go wrong (c-map does not compete with navionics if your a fisher) I run a lowrance hds8 combo and its never let me down. On a side note, if you dont have the cash readily available and you own an iphone you can get the navionics app for a few dollars and its spot on, plus while ur relaxing on the couch at home you can find new spots ;)

good luck on ur choice..
