Its just that most people do

Its just that most people do this with lower speed reels, thats a popping reel primarily!

Good luck!

not into the popping seen but i do like to get my fish off the bottom in a hurry to many sharks up here put a bit of hurt on them i reckon. most of the bottom dwellers where i fish are in about the 30 to 40m mark so i like to go hard on them.

Samurai Reaction Jig 10. Awesome rod. Have one matched to my 8000 and man has it got some balls, but with a sweet action.

I knew you had the Samurai Jig 10, but I didnt know it was a complete match to my Sam and Stella 8000. Identical twins hey.

I am the same, dont like to have my rods/reels so specifically designated. I dont care if it not ideal for jigging, I jig with it, but it nicely double as the BB, Jig, pop, troll

goto spin option. I dont know whether you might not want to consider the 8000. OK it has a smaller spool than the 10000, but that is all. Its a little lighter, same drag and since Popping is an options rather than the main use I went the 8, and it can skull drag if you need to with Noah's. Didnt even know I had a 10kg Mackie on when I skull dragged it in to avoid the Taxies around the boat. Only found out when a very green mackie went ballistic beside the boat.

Got into em out at the Montes

Wed, 2011-08-24 19:39

Got into em out at the Montes Carry in those depths and a then a bit wider. Do a bit out a way from Dampier and I can't fault it mate. I know Neels (crasny1) has the same outfit also. Hooked into a few biiiiggg sharks and it knocked em over pretty quick and more to the point, painlessly for me.

Cheers

I agree fully

If it was me Id go the jig 10. Its is more alround than just a jig designated, so would suit your needs to a tee. @ people up here with basically the same need as you are delighted about it, why wouldnt you.

I'm in the process of getting

Wed, 2011-08-24 19:52

I'm in the process of getting a Black hole cape cod special 250 g built for this type of work. A mate is getting one built as well to put his Stella 8000 on it. The Samurai range of rods are great but I reckon the NV10 has too fast a taper and is a bit of a broomstick. The BH is a far better rod and in your budget.

The Saltiga range of rods are also worth a look for this price range and a good budget option is the Fin Nor offshore rods, in this case the 80lb one. Quite a nice rod these and will do the job nicely. If you are going 50lb the T curve deep jig 200 is also a great rod.

Cheers boys im out at Wickham so doing pretty much the same thing as you boys i have been drooling over the saltigas but am just curious as to what else is out there half of the rods mentioned i have never even herd of let alone seen alot of my other gear are xzogas i will do a bit of research on the bh cape cod as for the fin nor i had a look in karratha at one of the fin nor rods today and your right they look the goods when i asked the owner if he had any good reports on them he asked me to load the rod up while he hung onto the tip and for an 80lb rod i dont reckon i had it not even half way loaded and it started making all  sorts of cracking noises i think the owner shit himself haha said he didnt like the sound so he put it back in the rack.We off to glomar shoals on saturday so hopefully have something before then to smash some critters.

Wed, 2011-08-24 23:50

Gday Carry ive been using a couple of ugly sticks the bluewater jig/spin 24kg with a shitty fin nor 8500 with great results, load one of them up in the shop i bet that dont make a noise, can only imagine what it would be like with a stella on it (Choice) seen a broken T curve at Coral bay not keen on them but thats my opinion, plus you would get lots of change $$$$ on ya budget, will update ya on the Texalium this weekend, good luck on the trip this weekend send us a couple of pics
