Steep Point Spin Rod

Gents. That time of the year is fast approaching and I'm on the hunt for a new spin rod for Steep Point, something that is capable of flicking Nilsmasters/Rapalas around 9ft? Price isnt a great consideration as I normally keep my gear for years so I'm not shy of spending a little extra upfront. I'm a saltiga fan so I'd be looking at something to accomodate a 4000 weight/ size capacity reel. Thanks.

Wed, 2011-11-30 18:20

Demon blood 962h rated pe2-4 is a very versatile rod that can handle large minnows and metals up to 120g
Keep an eye open for the new 10' nitro rockstar 10-20kg. Should retail for $399 when released.

Check out the 9ft Lemax President Royal, it's hauled in plenty of quality fish off the Steep and Quobba rocks.

It's available from the Tackle Shack if you're NOR, Anglers Spot if you're SOR or flick me a PM for more info...

But I haven't fished Steep Point LOL. Plenty of grunt for a very reasonable price.

if you like saltiga then look

Thu, 2011-12-01 07:30

if you like saltiga then look at saltiga i recon :) some rods that have been really popular lately in the shop for l/b fishos up steep , false and quobba way have been ,

in the azusa range;

APS902L    9'0"(274cm)   PE1-2    14-60g

APS902M     9'0"(274cm)      PE2-4    20-80g

 APS902H    9'0"(274cm)    PE4-6     30-100g

these rods start at roughly $320 and are up to $360 from memory,

also as stated above by flangies the demon blood

DB 962H    50-120g    PE 2-4

there are plenty of other rods that will do the job its just a matter of looking around...

i hope this was some sort of help

 Hi Zack, the combo you

Sun, 2011-12-11 23:50

Hi Zack, the combo you mentioned will certainly do the job, but when you plan to fish more than a couple of days on the trot, it`s one heavy combo. Jonray my first combo for Quobba and the like was a GB1800 ugly stick and a 850 penn, still got it but now use a graphcast 2 and a saltiga 4500h. I see a few blokes from this site have just returned from a Quobba sojourn and lost a few lures $$$, when the sharks move in the cheap option is the ever reliable leadhead jig, a much cheaper option and even moreso if they are home made. Speed is what you are after when using these so the reel has to accomodate, the emblem pro is a lighter option than the 9500, but still a tad heavy.

You will no doubt be given plenty of options, at the end of the day i like to feel like my arms i haven`t been through the wringer

understandable, Not sure if

understandable, Not sure if you have been before but the sharks are worse than Quobba so if you get a big run you want to get it in fast.
