Splicing new furuno plug

I'm going to have to splice a new plug on my tm260 transducer
using a pigtail from Taylor marine
does anyone have any tips or things to make sure I do

I've done it.
A few years ago now ( 8 or so.) from a TM 260 to a 587. Forgot how many hours I spent googling it. Ended up emailing a guy in the US. Sorry not much help, but it has worked a dream since then. It wasn't that difficult once I got the right advice.
If you've got a similar set up I'll pull my one apart and check it out. Wouldn't mind having a look in there to see how it's fairing.

stager the joins
so there not all in the same spot ,normal heat shrink is ok for the wires but use glued heat shrink for the outer cover.dont forget to join the screen aswell
