Splash-proofing Furuno FCV 1100L

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with a Furuno FCV 1100L or similar unit operating in an environment where it cops a bit of spray (like the dash of my centre console).

The Furuno manual says they are not waterproof but how sensitive are they or what measures can be taken to 'splashproof' the unit??

Thanks

Does the manual give it an IP rating?

If it does, look up what the IP code means and that should give you an idea of how waterproof it is or isn't.

For example my FCV 620 is rated IP55 which means it can withstand water jets of 12.5L per minute from any direction for at least 3 minutes.

My sounder sits on the dash of my runabout and I've had a couple of waves splash onto the bow and come over the windshield and wet everything, but that hasn't affected the sounder.

Thanks for the feedback. So if it was flush mounted on the dash and well sealed can they handle a bit spray? Might be able to make room..
