sounder shots for championruby and glastronomic

i couldnt put pics up in the last post (fishfinders in dinghys), so here they are.

its a raymarine A50D sounder/plotter. completely waterproof unit, so a bit of spray doesnt hurt it, but its mounted below the side of the boat anyway, so it shouldnt cop much driving spray.

the bracket is made from a 2mm thick bit of aluminium (available from any 50km/ph sign in your neighborhood....), and was bent up in the shed, in a vice. no need to heat or weld.

Neat job!

Curious though, you reckon if you made the mating face bigger, you could just glue it on?

mating face?

is that the look you get when getting punished by a big fish.....???!!!!

yeah till, if you mean where the sounder sits on the bracket, that would probably be ok to glue (mine is screw fixed though), but where the bracket connects to the hull, i wouldnt trust any glue to support it, as a bit of chop or swell at speed could potentially shock-load that into falling off.

More like where the bracket joins the tinny. Some great glues available now and saves drilling holes and avoids galvanic corrosion too.

It's a savage 4.18 kestrel, and it comes as standard. It's a good hidey hole for keeping electrical and other stuff dry.
