steve

the screw knobs that hold the head unit in, you can get them with key lockable so apparantly you can not undo them, but if they want it they will get it by braking it.

my boat is out the front so they are removed all the time.

Sat, 2011-09-17 16:42

Would you really feel safe knowing that $2500 worth of sounder is secured by knobs???

Honest

Locks will only stop an honest person. If a low life wants something a couple of cheap locks are not going to slow him down a fraction.

Haha the Furuno FCV585 is too

Sat, 2011-09-17 17:22

Haha the Furuno FCV585 is too bright to leave on full brightness when we're leaving before dawn.

Not sure if I've mentioned, but on another boat the skipper nearly couldn't see the approaching container ship because he had the brightness maxed on both the sounder and the gps!

When the boat gets washed

Sat, 2011-09-17 18:26

When the boat gets washed they (sounder and GPS) come inside and locked in the safe :-)

Seriously it takes 2 seconds to take them off, why wouldn't you? Bloke 2 doors up has his built into the dash (electronics) and he even goes to the trouble of pulling the fuses out behind the dash so his spots aren't plundered. A poxy knob isn't going to stop anyone, but hey if you wanna spend the money don't let us stop you :-)

Cheers

you've hit the nail on the head there mate.

Takes 2 seconds and rules any theft out of the equation.

Don't know about the lock

Sat, 2011-09-17 21:15

Don't know about the lock code, haven't noticed it on anything other than a phone! Guarantee you one thing though, if it does exist ánd they can't sell or use it...they aren't going to bring it back for ya when they can't get it to work.

Ditch the lock mate and take the units inside. Buy yourself a few lures instead!

Cheers
