"Simpler rules for better fishing"
Got ahold of the new fishing rules pamphlet and have a query that someone hopefully can answer.
Reading from the book:
Dhufish 1 per licensed angler max 2 per boat in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Pink Snapper 2 per licensed angler in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Breaksea Cod 2 per licensed angler in West Coast Bioregion. No probs there.
Now if I take 3 licensed anglers out and we have a killer day, I take it we can take 2 dhufish and say 4 pink snapper or 4 breaksea. All in all nobody exceeds the 2 mixed species daily bag limit.
However what if you can take 5 people out fishing. Does that mean 2 dhuies and 8 pinkies or 8 breaksea? Again nobody exceeds their daily mixed species limit. I cant see any other boat limit on the amount of demersal fish you can take. Is this correct?

Asked a fisheries officer
Asked a fisheries officer last time regarding boat limits etc.
yep you are correct! Any RBFL licensed fisherman can take their 2 demersal species per boat. Doesn't matter how many you have on the boat as long as they have their RBFL, they are entitled to 2.
Obviously dhufish have a boat limit of 2. Only boat limits are those specifically specified (dhu's, crabs, crays, etc)
Same thing goes on size limits, if its not specified then there is no minimum size limit. i.e rankin cod don't have a min size limit..

as always the regulations
as always the regulations booklets are ambiguous.
your best bet is to go down to a local fisheries office and pose the question and get them to explain to you.
after all they are the ones who are going to pull you up, not some bloke on this forum who has read the same pamphlet as you.

Just having a hard time
Just having a hard time getting head around going from boat limits to no boat limits then back to some boat limits for individual species- I dont think its all that much simpler in some respects. Never mind- all good now. Going to keep the pamphlet on board in a waterproof container just in case.

Yatesy I think if there is 4 fishers onboard, your first scenario, you can take 8 Fish. 2 LUCKY anglers with a Dhu and either a breaksea or Snap, the other 2 with 2 snaps or Blackbum. Nobody breaches the rules. 2 per angler, boat limit 2 Dhu's.
I just dont want to get involved in the fight about who gets the dhu's if only 1 angler got them.
