Submitted by Moking on Thu, 2018-04-12 18:37
In my "backyard". This is not good,I wonder if it is connected with the issue's of the "Poo Pipe" out from Point Peron for the last two weeks.
No - Fishing- Crabbing- Swimming- ect ect ect!

Add in 2 dolphins washing up
Add in 2 dolphins washing up near bent street boat ramp in the past 3 weeks, hundred dead mullet in the same area, I think the ocean is telling us something.

Went near Carnac
Today same up there.is Cockburn poo pipe doing same. It's not your normal murky water, way different.pardon the punt but it's crap.3 feet to 40 feet. You cannot get away from it. Will be another big cover up. 100 percent not natural.

Bloody amasing isn't it
When things like this happen where is all the screaming yelling green groups calling for an enquiry into what is causing large fish kills and the large pollution of a bay/sound. If it's the fault of a government instrumentality where is the open government accountability.
Both major political parties wonder why a large group of the population have had enough of the cover ups and lies they are asked to accept and choose to vote for unknown small parties at elections.

Hard to say, there has been an algal bloom on the surface offshore for a good few months now which is a brown film. I havent noticed it inshore it might have something to do with the pipe

Sunday
Sunday there was a very light brown film/ sediment in Warnboro sound when I was out there, though it looked a little like coral spawn

Pretty certain that there is
Pretty certain that there is a fair bit of coral spawn around at the tic which may be some people are seeing though the water has had a green tinge for a few weeks. Water in Owen anchorage is being stirred up by the dredge between Mewstone and Carnac but I was amazed how filthy the water has been offshore for a few weeks.
Pretty ridiculous that this isn't all over the news yet when that eco peanut blames shark fishermen for a dolphin getting chomped on up in Monkey Mia, it makes the news.

it 's not likely coral spawn
if water conditions have been warm and fairly calm , it will be a phytoplankton which blooms naturally in these conditions. Completely normal for this time of year. Can get very thick in places, usually a reddish brown colour, and when it washes up on the beach turns purple and smells like goldfish food as it dries.
I've seen real coral spawn up where i live, all sorts of colours, can get very thick. The phytoplankton can occur any time from December to late autumn if conditions are right, coral spawn only occurs on one or two full moons per year usually in Feb/March.

We fished for squid in Cockburn on Wednesday and have them all prepared ready to eat. Does anyone know if Cockburn caught squid are safe to eat ?
Thanks - Eric

Real question Is
I and and a number of friends are wondering is how this will affect the imminent salmon arrival. Im away for a week over east for work and scared to see hundreds of Salmonistas belly up instead of violently attacking lures. Very worrying, can anyone who is local ATM shed more light on potential cause ?
Poo pipe is a known hezza mecca for my besty (never for food) but is it just shit comong from it? Could that waste boost a bloom? Poor water flow in the region? Hope for no more dying stuff regardless of cause.

Gotta be a fair bit of meth coming out of it too. Perhaps the Bacteria in the ocean have been copping the after affects of a glass barbie?
