Shimano tyrnos versus Daiwa Saltist

just looking for an overhead reel for larger pelagics up north. I have little to no trolling experience for sailies, marlin, mackies. Just wondering what the peoples prefer and are there better options for solid trolling outfits. Could even spend more money if it were worth it.

You could do worse than have a look at the Fin-Nor Marquesas, the 30 T top model would be a great 10-15 kg reel with and adjustable tension clicker for trolling Sailie baits, I've got the 16 I use as a PE8 jigger and it's been punished a few times and come thruogh with the goods no worries.

I can't offer opinion

I can't offer opinion regarding trolling for billies etc but I can say that I think the Tyrnos reels are good value for money and offer a good option for medium priced overhead reels. I have a 10 which is pretty diverse in it's options and serves me very well, and a 30 for a big spool whinch.

Im a Shimano reel lover

And lean ever so slightly toward Diawa with rods, but in my opinion the feel etc of the Saltist won me over. Lovely to use and then some knob with a brain for quality (sitting on a Monster mesh rod) flogged it off the back of the boat outside the Dampier Yacht Club. Nice a$$hole.

Have to admit then upgraded cause I could for a Saltiga 2S LD30 and havent looked back. In that situation I vote Saltist.
