Shimano Tiralejo

Hi Guys,
My wife requested i go and buy a new rod so she can use my old one and come out fishing with me (BOOYAH!), so i've been eyeing off the Tiralejo rods which look really nice.
Has anyone had any experience with these rods for beach fishing and what sizes would you recommend?
Also, since i'm going a new rod, i need to get a new reel :) Any suggestions on what you would recommend to pair with the Tiralejo?
BTW, it'll mostly be used for fishing and Hillarys, Floreat Basin and Dawesville

Hi Snort
I purchased a Tirelajo 10ft a month ago, so far i love the rod.It casts very nicely and feels good in the hand, its well balanced (you can adjust your reel seat up or down)Cant say i have caught to much with it yet however its only been out on 2 occasions. I have paired the Tiralejo with a Shimano Baitrunner 6500B , its quite a nice combo and a definate upgrade from my previous beach setup, its hoping to see some action down Walpole around Easter
Cheers Stuart

Have you had any problems
Have you had any problems with the real seat slipping Stomper? Some people have said it can come loose.
Looks like a really lightweight rod and great for distance casting. I imagine it'd be great for flicking lures for a few hours.
Anyone else have any Tiralejo experience?

Not yet :)
Not yet, the baitrunner sits in there snug, it is a nice light rod, cant wait for it to see some action. I did read something with some others having that slipping problem with smaller reel feet, so far so good.

Shim Tira!
I do like these modern rods, i dont have one but have spoken to guys that use em and we've sold a few too!
The 10ft seems to be the most popular and as far as reels goes plenty to choose from. If your a baitrunner angler then the Okuma Salina's or Shimano Baitrunner is an option. If you like standard reels then Shimano Speedmaster/Shimano Sustain/Shimano Stradic/Okuma V-System or something more expensive like the Daiwa Catalina!

Great feedback, really glad
Great feedback, really glad to hear you like them Spess. What reels do you use with them (Specifically the 10 & 12')?

On the 10 foot overhead im
On the 10 foot overhead im running a trinidad 20DC loaded with 20lb braid and on the 12 footer im running a torium 20 with 15kg mono 0r 30lb braid if im in the mood. The torium is a beautiful casting reel on the 12 footer and a lot of people over look them as a casting reel but with a little grease removed and remplaced with some oil man u can fly those casts out.
I acually brought the trinny 20dc for the 12 footer but once loaded up with 15kg mono i dry casted it in the park with a 200gm raider on it and was about 30m off sppoling the reel on cast so i loaded it with braid and put it on the 10 footer. then brought the torium.
Dont over look the 9 foot overhead as well. That would be one of the best baitcasting mulies for tailor rods around. Nice a tippy but can still cast a decent wieghted lure.
Sorry to ramble on cheers spess.

I've never used an overhead
I've never used an overhead reel before, only ever used eggbeaters... That Trinidad looks sweet though!
I'm torn now over the 10' & 12'... i currently have a 10' rod (el cheapo) and i find when i'm on the beach i sometimes want the extra height to stay above the breakers.
How much distance is lost in casting from a 12' to a 10'? Would you estimate 30m?
i think a Baitrunner may be the go also - thanks for the suggestion Ryan. Though i'd also consider getting a second reel for other occassions.
