Shark Fishing

Hey fellow FW members,

Was just wondering if anyone could help me out with Shark Fishing.

I have been trying weeks on end to the extent of some sessions going for 16 hours.

I've had three big runs all bust offs around the cockburn area was wondering if anyone could help me out with whats the best bait to use and wether to use a floating balloon rig or a bottom sinker rig.

Been dying to catch one for a long time now just havnt been rewarded yet there must be something im doing wrong or am i going to the wrong places?

Be much appreciated if someone could give me few tips or put me into the right direction.

this is my first post so please dont bag me :)

P.S Looking forward to helping other members as much as i can

Hi mate,use the search

Hi mate,

use the search function on top. there are a lot of helpful threads around. Have a look for slide fishing, land based sharks metro, shar rigs... you will find a lot of info and I think that will help a lot for the beginning.

What gear are you using? Overhead or Spinnreel?

Line strenght? I wouldn't go with anything less then 50pound

Leader? Do you use a leader if not thats very important I use a 150pound wind on.

Steel trace? I use a minimum of 1 meter 200pound or bigger

There is a lot more I hope that gives you a starting point.

Cheers Seb

Thanks for that seb, yeah that was my first port of call i have gathered as much information as possible using those keywords in the past.

Being a land based fisherman with no 4wd guess your pretty limited to where you can catch sharks.

I am using Spinn reel, 50 pound braid, just over 1 meter steel trace at 150 pound with two circle hooks size 9

do you use a bottom rig or balloon it out?

Any hints as to where to start off for locating these toothy critters? and what bait do you prefer when chasing them?

i am using scallies atm but i have used herring an tailor to.

looking to catch something 1 m ish so can eat it big fan of eating shark :)

Seems to be the theme of the day CB. People seem to have forgotten how to read & are getting the wrong end of the stick. Then they have a go at someone because they don't understand what was written. Think it's time to sign out for today & let everyone get out of thier foul moods.
