Scooter stolen from Woodmans Sunday arvo
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2011-03-08 13:09
Hi Guys,
A mate of mine went for kiteboarding lessons on Sunday arvo from Woodies, and is from Brizzy, so he hired a scooter for the long weekend!
Some bastards stole it from the parking area between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday arvo, and guess what - the hire company is not insured, so he is now up for a $1500 credit card penalty - just about the price of a new scooter!!
So 2 lessons here - don't park at Woodies and don't hire a scooter before checking the insurance clauses..
Let me know if anyone was there and saw anything please, cops doubt they will find it..
Cheers,
Dave

Yeah I stress every time
Yeah I stress every time I leave the car there to do a night run.
I would be pretty happy to pay $5 a launch down there to have a permanant security guard. Dont see it ever happening though.
Does anyone have details of that private ramp next ot the woodies main ramp? Does that have a secure carpark? How do you become a member there?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Cockburn Power Boats Club I
Cockburn Power Boats Club I think it is. I think it can vary with waiting times, but last I heard was the list wasnt very long (perhaps due to the demersal ban effects). You might need to be nominated, but theres a fair few members on here. Roberta would definitely able to give you more info. And yep, they have a fenced area where you can park.
With the new ramps installed (which are pretty good), Woodies could be an absolutely awesome place to launch if they got some security to stop all the break-ins. I think they had some cameras but then removed them? Some wash down water would be nice too :p. I think the carpark mentioned is the other one at woodies groyne though?
Edit: Are you sure they didnt actually have insurance? $1500 sounds like an excess rather than a replacement cost? Often rental places have excesses around that much unless you opt for additional insurance which brings the excess down heaps. They still have insurance beforehand though, but gets confusing if theres a specific "insurance" add on. In a way, its an insurance against high excess costs rather than an actual insurance :P

This is taking the p1ss
This is taking the p1ss now... I never fish there but I hear and read about all of these thefts and car break ins and it is happening far too often.. Am I rite in thinking that there was CCTV int the car park and it has now been removed? Personaly I favor the vidgilainti idea somebody once posted with a baseball bat and a compound bow... But surley it must be possible for us all to sign a pettition or letter to the local council to get the cameras put back or to make some sort of effort against this regular occurrence? And/or a letter to the west australian??

Normaly you hear from break
Normaly you hear from break in's during the night, and now they dont even wait anymore till dark?!
But the worst thing is, even if they ( cops ) would get them nothing would happen to them, cause there some poor underprivileged ppl;-(

I don't he is talking about
I don't he is talking about the same carpark as others are,,the kite surfing mob are right out the end of Woodys pt groyne, i have parked there for years launching kayaks, neither myself or anybody else i know has had any trouble there mainly because its in full view of people fishing, he might have been one carpark back, which is a bit more isolated.
It was my belief that you have the options of taking out different types of insurances when you hire something, to cover yourself in the event of theft ?

Hire car fine print
I recently hit a roo in my car and while it was in being repaired, I took up the 'hire car option' in my car insurance policy. I was covered for $50/day and that got me a Commodore.....here's the sting....the hire car company's standard insurance excess was $2300 if I pranged the hire car!!! The only way to get around it was to pay $27.50 per day for $0 excess cover.
They also insisted that I returned the car with a full tank of fuel, otherwise they'd charge me $2.70/L for them to go fill it up....I filled it up!
As for the problems at Woodman's point, I'd be furious if it happened to me and I'd want blood...obviously the local member of parliament isn't into fishing/boating who parks there and has suffered from a break-in, otherwise something would have been done ages ago. The petition would be a good starting point, as well as lobbying the local council.

Don't count on the cops to do anything, their downright useless.
I had a breakin in a house i was staying at. Thieves came in while we were sleeping and even entered several rooms where my flat mates were sleeping and stole stuff. The owner told me not to bother to inform the cops since they would not do anything since there were 2 previous break ins and nothing ever happened. Sure enough, even after i called them, the cops didn't even bother to come down to investigate or take a statement. I went to the police station to make a report, the officer on duty looked disinterested and told me to fill in a form about stolen property.
When i told them i had a set of footprints from where the burglar came over the fence, he said it wasn't his department it was the forensics department that should be coming down but they would give me a call when they were free. I told him the forensics should come down immediately since the footprints were in sand and he even had to cheek to tell me that it was only a day since the incident happened so just take it easy and "wait for the forensics call".
Hearing this, i simply marched out of the station and didn't even bother with filling in the form.
Oh and Of course the call from the forensics or any other police never ever came.
I would never bother reporting anything to the cops in future. Instead i now sleep with a machete under my bed.
Just about the only efficient thing the cops are good for is issuing speeding infridgements and fines, can't beat them in that department. Legalised Shakedown Inc if you ask me.

last yr sleeping at the folks
last yr sleeping at the folks house one night who are in their later yrs......
me hears a prowler round our house which is secured like a fort........anyways i ring constable care and ask if they can send some1 round.......i got the ussuall' mate we are a bit tight atm"........
i said thats ok mate..........explained to him that i realise this is being recorded and explained to him that the basball bat in my left hand was going to fVFK someone really badly if they tried to get in and it would be his responsiblity, because id given them due warning and they didnt take the time to send a copper round to do wot was being asked of them
within 4 mins there was constable care driving up the street actually doing his job....bloody amazing.........u have to nearly theraten the cops to get them to do a driveby..............useless crabs.........
only good for speeding fines and harrassing 12yr olds not waering helemts............while the real crims wallow in a world of laughter at us all....gave a native a good hiding yrs ago after he passed out in my car while breaking in..........left purple.....its only a matter of time b4 some spastic vigilante sets up base down at woodies and starts softening up some of these lil pricks who only undertsand pain
people repsect two things, manners and civility, or pain.

A guy I once new was a cop
A guy I once new was a cop and he told me, if you catch someone in your house, give them a good beating, and to ensure all was good, make sure your wallet is in his pocket when they get there. Now I'm just waiting for one of them pricks to visit.
Cheers
