Rod for trinidad 30a

G'day
Just after some suggestions. Just got a Shimano Trinidad 30A. I know a lot of people don't like reels with star drags for trolling, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Out fit will be a bit of an all rounder. But mainly for jigging, with the option for a bit of trolling.
Looking at a monster mesh max (200).
Want to stick to around $200-300... just bought a new boat and the funds have been taking a beating.
Just looking for suggestions I may not have thought of. Montser mesh seems to be good value for money. Went and had look at some the other day, they look like a nice rod too. Which is always a bonus.
Cheers for any input,
Alex

just be careful of the split
just be careful of the split butt arrangement in the rod holder seen some in my local returned broken from being trapped in the rod holder on max drag whislt trolling.

Thanks for the reply. I never
Thanks for the reply.
I never have my reel locked up and my rod sitting in the rod holder. Not sure why people would do that when actively trolling?
Also looking at the demon blood series. More expensive but does it equate to a better rod?

I have the monster mesh max
I have the monster mesh max 300 with a Trinidad 16 50lb braid for bottom bashing and trolling 4 - 6 inch lures. Just back the drag off slightly when trolling and the rod will soak up the hard hits from macks and trevally no worrys.

not a bad reel for hurling
not a bad reel for hurling metals too, I have mine on a sabre grafast 670 custom job which is around 7 foot that I use for casting / trolling / and bottom bashing here in Darwin, good old silstar 7 foot blue water rod should be good as a all rounder as well

Tony - How does your Trinidad 16 balance up with the 300 monster mesh? As I have the 30 and was going to match it with the 200?
I got the reel online from motackle, will be getting the rod locally to see how it balances with the rod.

If the main purpose is
If the main purpose is jigging, then the 16 on the 200 and the 30 on the 300 would be the go. I allready have jigging combos so I went for the 300 for the heavy sinkers required to hold the bottom in 50m + water up here in Carnarvon. The extra power of the rod is also good for trolling barra type lures around shallow reef for trout, cod, spangoes, trevally, macks ect.

I was all set to get the
I was all set to get the monstermesh rod earlier this year but after ordering it I read a few negative reports on it which was dissapointing although didn't worry me too much.. when I went to pick up my new combos I had ordered the shop wasn't able to get the mostermesh intime for my trip I was going on so very kindly the guys at Complete Angler Rocko gave me the demon blood equivelant for the same price....
I love it and will definatly recommend it to anyone! mine is the PE 3-4 overhead with a Saltist LD30.

I think it just comes down to
I think it just comes down to which monster mesh the 200 or 300?
When trolling, will be predominantly skirted lures for small tuna and kingfish.
