Reel recommendation.

Hey there.

Was wondering what reel and size would you experienced fishos recommend for a 9'2 starlo stix shore spin(might upgrade the rod in the future)

I'm thinking of running either 30lb Sunline PE or 30lb Berkley Whiplash.

Thanks!

how much you want to spend?

look at the shimano stradic 4000fi-5000fi, great reels for their price and match up to that rod perfectly.

Why use such a heavy line on a rod like that? Go to what the rod's rated at and that way your not overloading. As for a reel, I'd look at something from Okuma. Yes, I like my Okuma's.

Cheers
Dale

the stradics fit in your price range perfectly mate, they even come with an extra spool, definetely go check them out.

if i was you id probably lean towards 20lb max, you dont really need much more than that plus you'll fit more on the spool.

too true

but i was thinking of getting another rod in the not so distant future.

2 spools sounds great. i can fill one up with 20lb first.

Will 300m of 20lb Sunline PE fit on a size 5000?

Or will I have to add some backing to it?

you'll easily fit 300m of it plus backing on a 5000.

on my 4000 stradic i managed to get 270 or so metres of 20lb sunline with minimal backing.
