Ramp ... Rotto

Guys, quick one ....

Where do you launch from, heading to Rotto?

Any help would be much appreciated. Tub is a 22'er, so can't launch from beaches ... etc.

Cheers

Woodies, but depends where you live

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

You could put it in at Leewin

You could put it in at Leewin boat ramp, thats the closest to the mouth. Closest north of river would be Hillarys.

I'm NOR, closest to me would be Mindarie, but too far on the boat. I was thinking of towing it, wherever, would be better.

As you said Dkonig, I was thinking of Woodies

Leeuwin is closer, but

Leeuwin is closer, but because of the 8kn zone around it, its no faster than either woodies or Hillarys. The $12 sting for parking totally kills it too.

There is a sign there that says no launching of boats over 7m. Am sure it's only one of those health and safety warnings so you cant complain to the council if you hit the bottom or something goes wrong.

if you are NOR I would use

Tue, 2011-12-13 18:34

if you are NOR I would use hillaries or Ocean reef. Dragging your boat across town town to the SOR ramps doesn't make sense.

Distances to Thompson Bay

Woodies 15.2nm

Hillaries 15.1nm

East freo 12.8nm

Ocean Reef 17.5nm

Distances were plotted to avoid navigation hazards.

I was looking at a spot just south outside of the harbourmouth and it turned out to be about the same speed to get there from Woodies as it did from East Freo!

Love this site!!

Guys, appreciate your help and tips, I know I can do allot of homework, but it gives more confidence when you get it from fellow fishos.

Makes more sense now to get out from Hillarys, or OR. Cheers

just leave from mindarie mate

Tue, 2011-12-13 18:59

it is under 5 mins to ocean reef by sea anyhow. It will take you a good 15 mins to tow it down then launch it.The angle is better when the wind goes to crap.

Ocean reef for my money

only couple NM's further than hillarys but less busy  and twice as many ramps as mindarie.

mindarie is only 3 ish NM's further than OR    btw  (to thompsons)

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
