will look nice and clean. Son in Townsville went home on the 10th January and spoke to him on the 8th February (his birthday) and he stated "Mum it hasn't stopped raining since I got back," No joke, he'd sit outside under his patio and the wild birds would come in and sit with him and his wife as they where water logged even the bigger white cockies etc, no joke this is true.
Radar shows its about 36km away so we may be in for a drop.Been quite dry so far, only a shower a week back.
No complaints though,we had a flood without getting any rain within 100k a fortnight ago
yeah well over 100mm from this Low and YTD over 300mm since dominic crossed the coast late January... makes the town nice and green but this wind/rain doesn't do any good for the fishing... grrr.. water looks like mud again :(
who kiddin Brad!!! I drove back from Fortescue Roadhouse around 2pm today and the rain just kept coming and coming...
We had 96mm at Mardie from Sat till Sunday and today got wet again, and just got FESA warning that Fortescue river may flood in next 24hrs!!! buggger there goes out construction site into a ball of mud!!!
Too make matters worse we lost cable TV, movies, Foxtel and even local FM radio about an hour ago due to lightning strike...oh well, lucky wireless 3G network internet stillworking for now, or am I jinxing it tooo???

I'll wait till one of my chaps crawls out of his donga and tells me what they conditions are like before I drive the North Coast highway...oh well no TV still or FM radio!
Well just going to have to go out and troll the mall then...lol

bad news is jay maitland river is still rising at the moment too, fortescue is receeding and you should be ok, they got a bus through today and trucks over 3t can pass. With citic pacific out there as soon as the water receeds enough they will grade that road so you will be ok for your trip i would say, plenty of time. Unless we get more rain of coarse
no go zone for the next few weeks the mouth area!
We called it quits and demobed till next week.
Road was open to heavy trucks only after 10am, but closed again after 5pm due the Maitland river still rising!
It's not ov er by a long way, with the possibility of a new low developing next week!!!!
Go to news.com.au they have some awsome pics from a chopper of the river.
oh well next week maybe we can get back to work

Bob's driven over that bridge many a time and when I showed him your photos his mouth dropped, can't print what he said, he couldn't believe it, god it must have been a down pour and a half.
thats my bloody crew waltzing around on the bridge, instead of working hard...lol
well everything was soaked to the bome, so they had an excuse.
Today the river is back to ankle deep again!!! I'll take a low level shot to show how high that bridge is!
cheers

I've never seen that bridge, just heard the stories from Bob, they used to camp just up from there apparently sleep the night then take transportables further up north
yeah, at airport waiting to board and head back to the land of the hot & wild weather.
Got told camp site is just drying out now and maybe get the crews back to work by tomorrow.
Taking a few more rods back this time, may even hire one of those Plaka's they got at Dampier to try abit of bottom fishing and trolling next weekend if the weather holds out.

Yip, we in for another blower, but with even heavier rain predicted this time. Full site evvacuations taking place already, as it looks like Karratha is back in the cross-hairs...
and all because I got a new Live Fibre toy to go chase GT's with yesterday!!! oh well, back into my shelter and six pack of ginger beer!!!
