Pro Crayfishing @!)&heads

I didn't know the pro crayfishermen thought they were gods gift to earth over here, driving their boat right through my lure spread cutting me off, no more than 15m behind my boat yesterday morning between Garden and Carnac islands. We had been holding the same course all the way from Pt Peron and this dickead couldn't alter course by 1 degree driving out between the islands. And before any one asks no we weren't in the channel.

I hadn't been that angry in ages. (I'm not saying all crayfishermen are dickeads but these blokes definitely need a good smack in the head)

Towing a boat

Fri, 2013-10-18 16:10

I was towing a boat back to Hillarys one day and cray boat tried to go between us. Luckily at the last minute he saw the tow rope.

I certainly gave him a mouthful as we had the blue lights on confirming we were towing and had limited steerage.

Fri, 2013-10-18 16:25

As George said-if he was standon vessel and not aware you had gear extending, he might  be swearing to his mates as well?

I seriously doubt he would deliberately run over your spread due to the damage it can do to shaft bearings?

Certainly though there are some "I am's" at sea also though!

Right of way

Fri, 2013-10-18 16:58

If he had right of way and you cut in front of him then I have no sympathy for you but if its the other way round there is no way he's going to deliberately cut your gear off and risk it cutting out his shaft seals and costing him upwards of $500 to pull the boat out without the cost of repairs and lose a couple of days fishing just for a laugh, don't think so.

Have had it done to me many times before when they see a pro boat approaching, give it a little squirt to get the boat across but forgetting that their gear is 50+ metres out the back just waiting to get cut off.

Most probably running auto

Fri, 2013-10-18 17:11

Most probably running auto pilot and not paying close attention .. maybe give em a buzz if you have their details and ask them what's the story . 15m is a bit close for someone not to give way prior .

As stated above-  which way was he approaching? if he was on your starboard beam then im afraid your in the wrong.

And Iceman WTF does a blue light have to do with towing???

It dosn't mean your Towing or Restricted in ability to manouvre!!!!

Cheers Boomer
