just shows how much you've contributed
They just go to show how much you've contributed to the site. But if I feel you are constantly dribbling un-important stuff to gain points, then I will remove them from you and people are less likely to respond to your questions as its a fair indicator of what you give back to the site. I don't do it often, but its a way to keep spam to a minimum.
