Plat japan.

Hey guys i plan on ordering a rod soon from plat, never ordered one from them before and they claim shipping price is 13400yen which is about $165au. Is this normal and also is any else interested in ordering a rod to cut down on costs?

I use Plat quite a bit and it is normal, but to share shipping is a bit " how you going" because fedex and ups do not budge on the content value so you have to pay stamp duty if gear is over 1000$

i always try to look for rods with a packing length of 150 cm so that ems can be the courier they are more friendly with the value of content so avoiding stamp dutyand are cheaper than the other two.

other than that plat have been great and you get first dibs on hard to get stuff and discounts on gear

Customs

Watch out for customs and the changeing Aussie dollar. I brought a Fisherman GT popping rod a few years back. It was set to cost me about $1400 including shipping. 4 months later when it was built the Aussie dollar had shat it and then customs flogged me, from memory $400, when it got here. Ended up costing me over 2grand.

In saying that, that wasn't Plats fault and I have never had a problem with anything to do with them. Just be mindful of the customs cost..

Plat are good but as EL SYD said look for rods that are 2 piece or under the 150cm mark, I bought two rods off them you can't get here so swallowed the packaging cost

the rod im looking at is one

the rod im looking at is one piece so im screwed there, also theres none in stock and apparently they will be available in june if i order one, its not overly expensive, as the exchange rate is now its only about $400, may have found someone to go in with me but i spose i better find out what the value of the rod they want is.

if it comes down to it i'll just deal with the shipping or maybe buy 2 rods, that way in my brain i can justify the shipping cost
