Pink snapper

 Hey everyone!

i have recently found a passion for catching pinkies on soft plastics hard bodies and even just floating a mulie. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction with rods reels line etc.. That will be ideal for lure fishing soft and hard bodied to target snapper.

cheers

Well if you found a passion for it, you must have already done it, so what's wrong with the gear you used then?

cheers

hi, the best outfit i would

Thu, 2014-05-29 18:49

hi, the best outfit i would use on a boat would be a stradic 4000ci4 or fj, with a shimano starlo stick for a rod. I use braid at around 14lb.

for landbased i use a stradic fj 5000, with a 9 foot 5 to 10kg starlo stick. i use 30lb briad.

I run fluorocarbon leaders

Thu, 2014-05-29 22:45

I run fluorocarbon leaders about 1.5m long tied on with Bimini twist & Albright knot, and use a leftys loop knot to tie the jig heads on. On the lighter 10lb spinning rod I use 20lb leader, and I have another overhead rod running 30lb braid with 30lb leader that I set in the rod holder about 1-2m off bottom.

On the spinning rod I mostly use 7" Berkeley gulp jerk shads and the one left in the rod holder I like the 6" gulp grubs as they have a lot more action in the tail when just sitting in the rod holder. I usually fish before and over the sunrise period and have found Nuclear chicken very efective at that time as they can be charged up under light to glow. I have had some success with Dhuies before sunrise and fairly good success with the snapper over sunrise fishing in 10-14m of water. If it's been a slow morning once the sun is a bit higher I will use pearl 5" jerk shads to target skippy.
