Pflueger...any good??

Hey Guys, just interested to hear any opinions on Pflueger gear. The reason I'm curious is I was short of a little spinner on a Barra trip to Darwin a few years ago so I picked up a 'Pflueger Trinity' for (i think) about $90 at the local BCF. I've since pulled in Barra, small mackerel & shark and dhuie on SP with the Trinity and love it, faultless little beater with a sweet drag.

You just don't hear so much about the brand so would be good to hear your opinions.

Cheers

they are very succeptible to corrosion and choking up with minimal amounts of salt/sand. i had 2 Trions and they have both seized up a couple of times. all in the care really.they are very well priced. good value for money.

Pfleuger and shakespeare are

Pfleuger and shakespeare are basically the same brand, (the trinity and shakespeares exceed) are basically the same reel with a couple of shared parts. They are less reseliant to sand and salt than others, as i use mine for small surf stuff like whiting and it has seized up once, but at $80 you can't go wrong. Best drags on reels that price IMO. IMO great reels, not sure about the rods.

I have 2 Pfleuger supreme XT in the 9030 and 9040 size which are like your normal 2500 and 4000 size and they both are great reels and super light. Also have one Pfleuger torsion which was on my pe 2 rod for amberjacks and has been awesome just this reel is a tad heavy so its been used now for snapper on 3 mile.

ive got the same reel and spin rod combo and ive caught big makks and god knows how many pinkys on them in the shallows nth of kalbarri and never had anything go wrong with it! keep it clean and greased up and they are a sturdy setup for the price! why pay 700 bucks when u can do the same job on them!
