Persistence Pays

Headed up to Geraldton with a mate for the long weekend, with the hope that I'd get away from some of the crowds. Geez it was hard work to get a line out, with serious southerlies blowing and back breaking clumps of weed ready to pounce on a rig the second it hit the water. Did a 13 hour day of fishing on Saturday and 10 the next.

Caught my first mulloway and I'm still grinning. Can't even add up the amount of time and money invested into this little bugger over the years but what the heck it's finally worthwile.

Also got myself a nice 2kg estuary cod, which tasted fan-damn-tastic.

Really helpful and friendly locals up that way (apart from one extended family of you know who) happy to tell us city slickers where to go and what to fish for. All in all a great trip, and I can see myself heading up that way again. Might take the windsurf gear next time as that's a failsafe method of killing a seabreeze instantly.

Back in perth now. Tried a heap of spots; flat rocks, the beach with the sculpture (Alice, ella, something like that), the moles in gero and a few others but ended up doing most of the fishing in the Glenough River Mouth which is open at the moment. Really fresh dirty water all around the area so there was nothing much around of your normal bread and butter species. I'd forgotten how frustrating bream fishing could be till I wanted a legal livebait.
