PE3 Casting Rod

 Hi lads.

Im in the market for a new PE3 lure casting rod. Thinking around 8ft as it will mostly be used from boat and rocks.

looking to throw lures from about 30gr up to maybe 90gr.

will be matched to a Stella 5000 with PE3 line.

Any body got any suggestions worth a look at? Budget is flexible but dont really need top of the range.

Cheers Jayce

Hey mate, We have a few rods

Hey mate,

We have a few rods that would match up perfectly with a Stella 5000 for casting PE3.

Basing it around the weight you want to cast, these are some of the rods I would reccomend -

1.

Valley Hill Ocean Quest

7'10'' Runner

Lure Weight: 30-80g

PE 3

RRP $399.99 (will be less with FW discount)

Awesome parabolic PE3 casting stick for shooting stickbaits and smaller poppers at offshore topwater nasties. Would be perfect paired with a 5k for casting at tuna, mahi mahi, red bass, macs ect.

2.

Temple Reef Stealth

7'2'' STK-72M

Lure Weight: 30-80g

PE3

RRP $710 (will be less with FW discount)

Slightly shorter stick, brute of a PE3 casting stick. I've used these personally for casting up to 70-80g and they cast very well. They feel awesome in hand and even better loaded up on quality fish.

3.

Shimano Grappler

7'3" ML

Lure Weight: up to ~80g

PE3

RRP $389.99 (will be less with FW discount)

On the heavier side of PE3 casting sticks, quite a fast actioned blank. Plenty of power for turning heads. This would be ideal if you plan on fishing shallow over heavy structure and you need to turn fish in a hurry.

Those are the 3 that stand out from the rest off the top of my head, but we have plenty more in store.

Just a heads up, we have a 20% sale off next weekend. Feel free to shoot us a PM on here or call us on 9389 1337.

Cheers Josh

iv had the daiwa saltist extreme 762s 2/4. good rod and probably suited to the heavier side of the cast weight which is i think 90grams? better for poppers this one

Iv just bought the 77/3 yamaga blue sniper and that is one awsome fishing rod. Very very light and super comfortable when loaded... suited more to 40gramish stickbaits very comfortably IMO but (has cast weight to 60gram)

Iv also got the old saltiga 76 game 2/3 and if u can try get one of these some how theyre defs a favourite (cant let it go even with the new sniper haha) best all round light popper/stickbait rod

only 3 i can comment on

FWIW I'm lucky enough have the Temple Reef STK-72M and its a fantastic rod, albeit at the pricier end of the spectrum. Great casting rod and slightly shorter length makes it a good size and not too long to fish out of the boat with. Knocked over some hefty fish and its hardly been tested.

You could also take a look at

You could also take a look at the Blue Sniper 79/3. Slightly heavier cast range than the 77/3(which is my all time favourite PE3 rod, but won't cast 90gr safely) and closer to your desired length.

If you are struggling to find a stockist drop me a PM, though I recall Compleat was/is a Yamaga dealer.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Hey mate,

Yeah we are a Yamaga dealer, we currently don't have those rods in stock but we can order them in for you.

We will be doing shop order for Yamaga bits and pieces very soon and would be more than happy to add your order to that list.

I've seen Dan using that 77/3 and it's an awesome rod.

Cheers Josh
