It's taken a while but finally got a good one...69cm on a 5" snapback on ten pound gear in 10 metres of water. Went like a train, kept lunging for the anchor rope and boy what a relief to finally land it. Followed up 45 minutes later with another one at 65cm. Ten year old managed a couple of mini sambos (around 40cm) and my oldest boy got a just undersized spotted mack on a Gulp nuclear chicken. A great afternoon with the light gear!

Depth...
...was ten metres, jighead was 1/4 ounce. I've always believed that your best chance at shallow water snapper is when it's low light (dawn/dusk) and when there's swell running but we got these fish around 1 pm and the swell was listed at 81 centimetres (only 12cm bigger than the snapper!).
So that's my theories blown out the window! Except for the one about bigger snapper being in shallower water!
White snapback...first time I've ever caught anything on 'em, more of a "powerbait/squidgie/basstrix" man, although that may soon change!

Yeah Jamie...
we followed that session up with some tailor up to 39cm at the island, on bibbed minnows...had one go the popper but couldn't get the hookup but things look promising for the rest of the trip.
Connor got a just size dhu out the back of the lighthouse and I think I'm approaching your record for jigging up sgt bakers! Today was herring and squid, tomorrow hopefully the bank for baldies. Not holding my breath for pelagics but brought the 50 lb troller just in case!
Thanks, Matt...the offer is there for you or any other FW member to come up to Jurien between now and next weekend (9th?) and crash at my father-in-laws and get out for a fish. Might have to bring a tent, but! And the long range forecast looks like southerlies but fingers crossed!
