my new boat is a stacer northen fisher where the hull joins the gunnel it is not fully seam welded what they do is run a weld for 200mm then leave a section 150mm unwelded then they run another 200mm weld this continues all the was around the boat .My mate who is a high end welding inspector was looking at it on the weekend and tells me to avoid long term grief I should seal the gaps that arnt welded with something like sika flex . I would have thought a good hose down after a trip would solve any future corrosion problems in those spots. Thanks in advance your comments

Don't really think it would
Don't really think it would be nessiccary. If you were pedantic then blasting and etch priming the hull would be best but a good hose down will do more good than the sika will in my opinion.

Those guys have been building
Those guys have been building boats for a long time, they may do it that way to allow a little bit of movement, weld it all the way and you might end up with cracking, a bit like why they don't fully weld ribs into the hull. My Nomad Elite 469 is the same.
