Onslow Boat ramp......
Submitted by Lastchance on Mon, 2010-03-08 15:38
Gday peolpe, we're heading out off Onslow for a few nights in a few weeks time and was wondering if the boat ramp carpark is ok to leave a cars with trailers for a couple of nights? Makes a long drive back to Karratha with no rollers or wheels on the trailer if you know what I mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No dramas
I did it on and off over a two year period and never had a drama Daisy. It's recently been upgraded to two lanes and there is now 24hr lighting in the carpark as well.

Onslow boat ramp
It guess it depends on what type of car you have. I don't think I would get a moments rest knowing my vehicle was left there. If it was me, I would maybe have a chat with the guys at the Mackerel motel and see what they'd want in return for letting you keep it in their compound for a few days.

Its only and 80 Series, but its the only one Ill have there if anything was to happen. The boat trailer is worth more than the car, but neither is any good come time to leave and Im down 4 rims or something silly! Mackeral Motel might be the best bet for piece of mind. Thanks Steve231.

We stay at Thevenard and leave our car and trailer at the Mackerel Motel. They have a secure compound there and take us to and from the ramp after putting it in the water...

Is that a part of the deal to stay at Thevenard? Or do they charge a fee?

it's part of the deal to stay there, but I'm sure they'd be receptive to storing it - even for a small fee/cartons

Pretty sure my parents
Left their 4wd/trailer at a freight compound for a two cartons for two weeks.
Not sure which, but I could probably find out if the motel falls through. Give em a call.
