Ongoing Exmouth Blog
Hey guys!
On the long journey from Mandurah to Carnarvon this morning I had plenty of time to think about things!
I am finishing the journey to Exmouth tomorrow and was thinking about attempting to create a day by day post for the trip letting the FW members how I get on each day. A lot of advice has been taken on board from FW members in planning this trip from new gear to Carnarvon stop over accom and potential ground to fish in exmouth to try and get my first Red.
Feel free to follow the post if you wish!
Had a very stress free drive to the Carnarvon Caravan Park today. First question is where are all of the sheep, goats, cows and dead Roos along the north western coastal highway? I passed one goat near Gladstone and didn't see another animal for the whole drive? Also maybe 1 dead Roo. 2 years ago I recall not being able to drive 100m without passing a dead Roo on the side of the road?

Saw heap of sheep last 100km
Saw heap of sheep last 100km into exxy at end of last month. Some young ones with not much sense and mum shadowing them across the road.
Heres a tip, when you fuel up the boat in exxy in the mornings remember to take your roads out of the rod holders
spent ages trying to get them out of the roof without snapping them! All bent up before I realised, several scatched but none broke... had to tie cord to them, pull them down and back it up.
Cheers

Looking forward to your ongoing blog
I think it is very good of you to take the time to keep us hibernating types informed of your catches and days on the water up at Exmouth. Don't forget there is also some good sight seeing to be had as well with the Charles knife? canyon I think that is what it is called. The tourist centre at the main big oval on the right hand side as you enter town should be able to point you in the right direction.
Seize the day, every day.

Rain
The reason you saw no sheep, goats or cattle is that we have had some rain to get the grass growing, once this happens they spread out to graze on patches well away from the main road.
Just found out you are in the caravan park, sorry but I am going to miss you. Nearly time for bed as off up to Beejaling shoals for a fish in the morning

What Carnarvonite said
if rain is widespread, so is feed, and so are the things that feed on feed, if you get what I mean. Bitumen is like a catchment, if rainfall has been low, what little has fallen will mean that the edges of the road will be just a little more lush--and roos will lick dew off the road when things are really dry.
I'm heading off to Ningaloo on Sunday, we usually can get on the net with the Yagi I put up--will I do a blog-thingy documenting what happens on 1st July? musn't confuse bloggers with blaggers
