This was a while ago the winch let go on the way out of the water. No major damage from what i saw but needed a truck to get it in the water. They dont make them like that anymore.

The winch was a bit small imo
The bottom of the boat only had a few scratches. The legs would be the only issue. In the pic the whole boat is on the legs and the tow point under the bow.It took about 7 of us standing on the draw bar to get the hull up to put stuff under the hull.

That would be pretty close
That would be pretty close to the legal towing capacity for that Navara as well.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

It would be way over the
It would be way over the legal towing capacity on any car. No trailer brakes. Any boat over 2 tonne needs electric or hydraulic brakes on the trailer.
I love how car manufacturers like nissan say that a navara's tow capacity is 2800kgs.
Yer it might be able to tow 2800kg but there is no way in hell it could stop that sort of weight in an emergency situation without good trailer brakes.

Could you imagine that on an
Could you imagine that on an airplane?
"This thing can take off with a total weight of 300 tonnes."
"Can it land with that weight"
"Errrr, no, not safely....."
Though, if you look closely at the specs, you'll see that the braked towing capacity is 2800kg. The unbreaked towing capacity is 750kg or thereabouts
Example
So, you're right, it wont stop nearly 3t in a hurry, but then Nissan arent saying it can :p

They try and hide this fact
They try and hide this fact though. When advertised on tv they always say how great a towing vechicle it is and in very small print on the bottom of the screen it states how shit they really are for towing.

When advertising a crap
When advertising a crap sandwich, they'll always tell you just how tasty and nutritious the bread is
I think from a legal standpoint they arent hiding it as its available in the specs, but from a general person point of view, well its a little different..

over 2 ton you are supposed
over 2 ton you are supposed to have breakaway breaks, theres not many boat trailer brakes that work that well anyway.
i built trailers for 15 years and seen some shiiiitttt.
but the bronze disc&calipers were great, bloody exspensive though.
on my screen i cant even see the car in the pic

On Ya retards!
Wankers like these ruin the week ends of many!
As if standing around pronouncing your dickheadness is going to solve the situation!
The only thing missing is the spare tyre on the back of the Navara with an Eagles cover on it!!!

Trailer Brakes?
From the DPI website....
Trailers having only a single axle and a GTM not exceeding 750kg do not require brakes.
Trailers of GTM over 750kg must have brakes. Trailers of GTM over 750kg and not
exceeding 2000kg must have braking on the wheels of at least one axle. Trailers of GTM over 2000kg must have braking on all wheels.
Trailers of GTM over 2000kg must have brakes operated from the driver’s seated
position. Over-ride brakes are not permitted. These trailers must have a breakaway
system by which the brakes are automatically applied if the trailer becomes detached
from the towing vehicle.

After posting last message!!!
Just realised it has nothing to do with original post...
The issue with the boat landing on the ramp has nothing to do with the trailer having brakes or not but it would have been an embarresment for the owner and more so a reminder for all not to release their safety chain before reversing!!

Dont mean to be
Dont mean to be contraversial but if you have a trailer pre 1988 the same rules for brakes do not apply. You can have a trailer over 2t and not have breakaway brakes.

Yes our new
trailer we bought 2yrs ago has brakes, new regs had to have brakes for a 1 ton boat, yet the old trailer 1982 didn't, new trailer without brakes was only for a 750kg boat, had to put brakes on.

hard stand
looking at the photo of the trailer, there are no wheel arches. mudgurds and the front of the trailer has been extended, i would assume that it lives on the hard stand at Hillarys
