One last drift
Headed out for a pre-work snapper bash yesterday with the aim of heading out to back of Garden Island but was a bit more wind than expected so I stayed inside the sound.
I anchored and got the burley trail going and got a couple of baits in the water. Landed a 40cm pinky then had a solid run on half a squid, unfortunately the bloody thing rubbed me off on some structure.
After no bites for an hour I pulled anchor and headed out towards the back of GI. For some reason my motor started acting up just after I got past the causeway so I started to limp back to the ramp. As I got back to my original stop I decided to have one last drift and flick one of Big Johns jig heads loaded with a coconut ice paddle tail around.
First cast and was hit on the drop. After a nice fight trying to keep tge fish off tge structure I put the net under a beautiful 80 cm pinky.
Nice way to start the day I reckon
