Odd Looking Trout
Submitted by dodgy on Fri, 2010-08-27 21:55
Picked up this Trout on the troll a couple of weeks ago. Hit the lure and then came straight to the top and dragged along back to the boat. Barely a kick. As it came in I noticed it had flattened its head right out and stayed like that until I squeezed it back to normal shape for a couple more pics. Seemed healthy enough apart from that.
Anyone seen a Trout do this before?

yer it gill flaring, fish do
yer it gill flaring, fish do in wen they are scared and destressed.
thats way the red head colour lure works so well for pelagics because they think thats its a bait fihs in destress and go and eat it.
nice tho, i havnt caught one but ive been told that the trout only fight while there near there caves becasue they think they have a chance then give up once there off the bottom.

alot of fish do this
when they get in a hole or crevice. Have pulled trout out with heaps of scratches and cuts on em along with a big chunk of coral on the other treble. they are hard to move when they get in a hole stick their fins out and flair their head.
FEEEISH ONNN!!!
