Oakley polarised glasses

Hey guys,

Does anyone here use the oakley polarised sunnies? From what ive found either grey or blue lenses are the best for open water but is one colour better than the other/more versatile?

Cheers

I use them, currently with the holbrooks but yellow lenses (more for golf than fishing) but I use them on the water & compared to other polarised glasses I have owned they perform well. Can't comment on the grey or blue, if it's purely fishing glasses you're after would you look at other brands?

Hey I was looking a few years back and ended up going with the spotters I found the glass quality and the refelective properties better with the spotters than the Oakleys. I think they where a bit cheaper too.  If you can have a look at the oakleys agaisnt a white wall in the middle of the day to give you an Idea.

I have a pair of Oakley

I have a pair of Oakley Juliet's with yellow polarised lenses - again more golf / baseball suited but have found them to be more than adequate whilst fishing. Have never had a set of dedicated fishing sunnies though so can't compare to much!

I only ever had problems with OakleyP lenses

Fri, 2014-11-07 13:30

Normal Oakleys no issues. Was given a pair of Juliet sunnies with normal lenses many years ago by SWRT (Subaru World rally Team). These glasses arent cheap at all. Had a cheap pair of Polarised glasses but wanted to change the Oakleys to that.

Sent it away and bang, they hit me for about the price off a brand new Mako or MauiJims. Then to top it off these P lenses started to delaminate after about 3 months use, and by 6 months was crap. Sent it back to them and they (thank god) replaced it with a new set. Same bloody issue. So as I had the original lenses I took out the Polarised and replaced back the original, and have no issues with that still.

I have used MJ's, Mako, Serengety's and now a Rayban. Favourite has to be the Serengeties and the rayban's now. But I had yellow lenses in the MJ and mako, and grey or blue in the others. I wont waste my money on Oakley polarised ever again purely because off that issue with Juliet lenses, which should have been top of the range considering the price at the time off $500 for a sunny.

Edit: The boss being a fishing fanatic aswell only ever uses Mako's and Spotters, and I have to admit I like her Spotters looking for crabs to scoop.

Holbrooks

Cheers guys. I currently have a pair of non-polarised Oakley Holbrooks and there the best fitting pair of sunnies ive even had so ill probably stick with them unless i find a similar fit.

As for lens colour i think gry may be the better choice.

Cheers

I use the Oakley Big Taco's

Fri, 2014-11-07 18:23

I use the Oakley Big Taco's with a grey lens and have a pair of Spotters with the amber lens.  The Oakley lenses have been replaced with Sunglass Fix lenses which I find are as good as the originals.  For most bluewater days these are pretty good, although the Spotters are better, and the Costa's I tried the other day are marginally better again.  As an allrounder I tend to put the Oakley's on most days simply because they're my daily wear.

Brown is suppose to be the versatile colour lens.

I've found amber/rose to be pretty good as well even though they were "designed" for low light conditions

I have the brown polarized and clarity is great. Had spotters which lenses were good but frames dug into my temple when wearing a had. Got a set of tonic photochrmatics for 50% off at the Bluewater tackle world sale which are good for seeing bait under the water
