my boat willbe back in the water in about a month, after 12 months of refit and mods including new motor and new electronics....can't wait.
anyone familiar with SIMRAD nss9 evo2 units?
After lots of internal debat and tossing up what to go for I got a pretty good price and went for this unit networked to my vessel view 7 display.....have the sounder hooked into a 600w chirp TM mount transducer....I'm hopeful I've ended up with a pretty good set up.....please don't be too harsh if you think I've ended up with shite!!!! I think that'd do me in
Possibly a free day day out in the offering to anyone familiar with and willing to show me a few tricks and some tutorage on using this unit......
only a small boat thou.....old Fraser 595........

They are a good unit, very much the same as the Lowrance yet easier to use. I had the NSS8 before the NSS9 so had a bit of use prior. Takes a bit to get the sounder set up and you will find your for ever making minor adjustments. That is the only bad thing I can say about it. You wont be dissapointed and would be interested to hear how you go with the chirp transducer. I only have the deep water 50/200 600 watt and am thinking about an upgrade. I can run chirp although it is not a full chirp transducer. I am fitting the structure scan next week and will be interesting to see how this goes. Only problem is you cant run chirp with structure scan apparently.
Have a look at youtube there is a good video on how to set up the sounder which is where i got my starting point. If you get up to Exmouth happy to show you what I know with the unit.
Cheers

Thanks gentsi have the
Thanks gents
i have the structure scan transducer too and yep have been told can't run both it and the chirp transducer at the same time, I essentially got the structure scan transducer thrown in for free so not too worried - figured I'd see how much I use it and whether I would run a split screen with chirp before spending more $$$ on the sonar hub which would enable me to run both at the same time.....plus hub module would give me the power to run the 1kw chirp which I was toying with but as I said I only have a little boat so don't venture out super deep all that often other than when heading off tantas on my annual trip to yardie creek h/stead...up there again end of March / April so if I haven't figured it out by then I might take u up on your offer bouttime (and I'll definately let you know how the chirp transfer goes).
Randall had a look at a couple of your screen shots - looks very clear

You got the better unit by far other than creating a Simrad NSE/O Hub!
Which you can, any time you choose!
Upgrades are there in the future, incorporating what you already have if so desired.

nice choice.
i used to run the full structure scan on my lowrance HDS10 gen2. pretty much anything over 30 meters i switched it off and went back to the 2D. In saying that, with these upgrades i just done. ive paired a NSS12veo2 with a chirp tranny. But i still got the LSS2 transducer there also. Around the shallow reefs and that its great, Im hoping that the downscan overlay, matched with the chirp will give a nice picture. Well, it better after costing so much for a little BSM 3 box.
looking fwd to seeing some screenshots to see if i have also done the right thing :)

thanks
Thanks for the feedback gents
Some of what you say is going over the top of my head, which contains only a simple brain.
Sounds like I've ended up with a reasonable unit (which may be capable of doing more than I need / understand....).
HOPEFULLY I can learn how to use it properly....concerned that I won't ever have the smarts to use properly oh well best way to learn is to have a crack!
(have been out with LOTS of people with massively expensive top of the range units who only know how to do a couple of things and really aren't getting anything out of it than a cheap crappy sounder would offer)

What you have bought into is
What you have bought into is a semi commercial integrated boating system that can comprise of; advanced autopilot, Radar, GPS, Video/data, VHF, AIS, CZone, Sonic Hub, Structure scan, Sounder modules, Wireless WIFI-1, etc,
It is a complicated system that you have to learn to set up and get familiar with.

Tutoring
There is a local guy John Adams who produced a book called how to use an echo sounder/fish finder, the book is fairly basic but very good reading, I have a copy if you would like to borrow it.
John also runs more in depth courses somewhere around freo he will give you great advice on how to set up and read your unit.
John used to be a pro fisherman I believe and his knowledge is outstanding.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

I have an Nss9 Evo2 and am about to install on my boat, i'm going the 83/200 and LSS2 both transom mount. Also bought a 50/200 600W thru hull which i may also chuck in when i can get over the cutting a hole thru the hull thing...

You bought the P319 Thru
You bought the P319 Thru hull.
Would a P79 In Hull not work?
No need for making hole in hull.
