North Beach - any good spots

My nephews are staying down North Beach way at the moment and they are keen to throw a line out. Are there any spots worth a try down that way - and what sort of fish are likely to be caught.
Many thanks, Colin Hay

Thanks Fisho. Are you talking about the fishing platform?

I will tell them to give it a go as they are just up the road from there.

How old are they Colin?

Another good spot for herring and the odd tailor is about 20m North of the carpark opposite Margaret street in Watermans. Couple of old platforms there infront of a cut out in the reef.

Oh, and most of the beaches hold sand whiting. Nothing like a live fish on your hook Innocent

Hi Jody

They are in their early to mid 20s Jody. They are not overly experienced at rock fishing, but know how to handle themelves around the water.
Thanks for the tip mate. I might take them down for a look later this week.

Nice flat conditions in those pics. I would expect that it would be better fishing there though with a light south wester.

Hi Ya,The one thing you

Hi Ya,

At North Beach Jetty the one thing you have to be careful of is the direction of your cast.

I watched a bloke on the jetty one night get pertty pissed off with a bloke fishing from the beach to the south.  Both were casting 'straight out' in front of their position.  The guy on the jetty failed to realise that the jetty is at a slight angle to the south west meaning that, as he was casting straight out, he was in fact casting across in front of the guy on the beach.  The guy on the jetty was calling the beach guy all sorts of names because he 'couldn't cast straight'.  I kept my mouth shut (for a change).

All a matter of perspective really.

Cheers.
